GENERAL NOTICE ANNOUNCEMENT CITY OF RUSSELLVILLE ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates the payments regarding the City’s financial obligations, and tracks expenditures through computer software. Receives invoices. Sorts bills and prioritizes payments by due dates. Identifies departments; matches invoices with departments and items/service being purchased. Pays cell phone bills for City-owned phones. Assigns vendor numbers. Creates vouchers. Cuts checks. Review checks and associated information for accuracy. Presents checks and associated information for accuracy. Presents checks and supportive documents to the City Clerk for signatures. Operates office equipment including computers, fax machines, telephones and copiers. Maintain files, documents, and data. Enters information into the computer. Completes assignments and tasks in a timely manner. Greet customers. Represents the City in a positive and professional manner. Answers and directs phone calls: takes accurate messages. Provides information and assists customers, responding to needs and questions. Assists customers in completing forms. Takes payments; records and invoices; writes receipts. Makes copies of documents as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a High School Diploma or GED college coursework in a related field is preferred. Two years of work experience; computer, bookkeeping and accounting experience are preferred. Previous work in local government and experience working with the general public is preferred. Work experience paying bills for an organization is preferred. Satisfactory credit score on background check is required. Ability to be bonded. Ability to become a Notary Public. Ability to travel to attend meetings and training sessions.
