THE ELECTRIC BOARD OF THE CITY OF RUSSELLVILLE, ALABAMA, IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR AN ACCOUNTANT
THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: A B.S. Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance or some other college degree with equivalent years of experience and/or certification is required.
EXPERIENCE: Five to Ten years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting, preferably for a public utility.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The General Manager is the chief officer of the Russellville Electric Board, working under a five-member Board appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The accountant works directly with the General Manager and He/she is responsible for carrying out the financial directives and policies of the Board, advising the Board about the laws, contracts and regulation which must be observed and keeping the Board apprised of the financial health of the Utilities.
The Accountant will be initially hired for a Ninety (90) Day probationary period. The Board has a preference that he/she will live in the service area of the Electric Board of the City of Russellville, Alabama, but this is not a requirement of employment.
PAY RANGE/COMPENSATION:
The pay range/compensation will be determined by a vote of the Board members of the Russellville Electric Board. The beginning pay for the Accountant position shall be no less than Seventy-Five Thousand ($75,
000.00) Dollars, annually. The Accountant shall have 100% of his/her family medical and dental insurance provided as part of his/her employment. Further, the Accountant shall receive as additional benefits, 12 paid holidays; vacation and sick leave days are earned each and every weekly pay period; and a $40,
000.00 life insurance policy paid for by the Russellville Electric Board. The Accountant shall be eligible for participation in the Retirement Systems of the State of Alabama.
He/she will work with the staff and all employees to provide utility services to the utility’s customers in a courteous and professional manner.
