ORDINANCE
NO. 2025-19
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FLORENCE, ALABAMA, as follows:
Section 1. The Alabama Legislature adopted Act 2025-280 establishing conditions for exemption of municipal sales and use taxes, and this Ordinance is adopted to comply with the conditions set forth in Act 2025-280.
Section 2. Ordinance 2017-09, attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference (“2017 Ordinance”), authorizing a sales and use tax exemption pursuant to Ala.Code § 40-23-213 and the Resolution adopted on June 5, 2012, attached hereto as Exhibit B and incorporated herein by reference (“2012 Resolution”), authorizing a sales and use tax exemption pursuant to Act 2012-256 of the Alabama Legislature are hereby approved, ratified, and confirmed.
Section 3. The municipal sales and use tax exemptions approved in the 2017 Ordinance and 2012 Resolution shall have an effective date of September 1, 2025, and the duration of such exemptions is in perpetuity. Notwithstanding the September 1, 2025, effective date, the sales and use tax exemptions approved by the 2017 Ordinance and 2012 Resolution for July, 2025, will be effective.
Section 4. The City Clerk-Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to publish this Ordinance in the TimesDaily and to provide notice of this Ordinance to the Alabama Department of Revenue by sending them a certified copy before July 1, 2025.
