A-12 Aircraft Restoration
The Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission DBA U.S. Space & Rocket Center seeks proposals from qualified firms for the exterior paint restoration of the A-12 Oxcart Aircraft on static display at the museum.
The purpose of this RFP is to have interested/qualified professionals provide an itemized proposal which details restoration of the A-12 Oxcart before its permanently relocated to its new display location at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.
°Owner will provide an on-campus facility for the restoration.
°Owner will provide the Amerlock and PSX-700 primer & paint for the restoration.
Restoration target start date is Mid July 2025 with a finish date NLT October 1st, 2025.
All potential bidders are required to submit in their proposal the following.
°Three (3) examples of similar work with exhibit restorations completed within the past five (5) years.
°A synopsis of your company’s safety record and procedures.
All potential bidders may request via email a copy of the detailed requirements package which includes drawings, specifications, and photographs related to this bid. Project Specifications may also be examined at the office of the Director of Procurement, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, Al 35805.
An optional Prebid meeting being held on Wednesday June 18th, 2025, at 2:00 PM CST in the Main Lobby of the
ETF Bldg. located at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, 1 Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL 35805.
Bids must be submitted on DCM C-3 Bid Proposal forms. Additional documentation includes an Itemized Bid on Vendors Letterhead, Certificate of Insurance, E-Verify, Al Vendor Disclosure Statement, Business License, and Vendor W9 form. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the provisions of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975 and must show evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by the Owner. The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying his or her current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owner’s judgement, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
Sealed proposals will be received by the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission d/b/a U.S. Space and Rocket Center at the office of Sam Mitchell, Director of Procurement, U.S. Space and Rocket Center, at the ETF Building 2nd Floor, Room #206, One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL 35805 until Thursday July 10th, 2025, at 2:00pm CST. At which time and place, each seal bid will be publicly opened and read into the record.
You may also submit your seal bid prior to public bid opening to the Director of Procurement, for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, by coming in person to the Administration Entrance located at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL 35805. You may also mail your seal bid using a reliable & trackable delivery method to the street address listed and by the time and due date shown.
Electronic bid submission will also be accepted at
samm@spacecamp.com provided they are received by the time and due date shown.
